THE SHORT ANSWERIn use

Yes, serving robots can run food and bus dishes in most dining rooms today, but they cannot take orders, climb steps or replace a server's judgment. For most restaurants we recommend the Bear Robotics Servi: a US integrator lists it from $9,990 to buy or $279 a month on a 36 month robot as a service plan, and it carries up to 66 pounds for 10 to 12 hours a charge.

Tens of thousands of serving robots already run food in restaurants, and they can be bought, financed or rented monthly from US integrators, though results depend heavily on the floor plan.

Bear Robotics Servi

Best for most full service restaurants: the lowest price from a major maker, with proven US support.

The Bear Robotics Servi is the serving robot we would try first. RobotLAB, a large US robotics integrator, lists it from $9,990 to buy or $279 a month on a 36 month robot as a service plan, the lowest price of any full size serving robot on its list RobotLAB Servi ↗ RobotLAB price list ↗. That page also gives $11,990 in one spot, so get a written quote RobotLAB Servi ↗. Each of its trays holds 22 pounds, and the two tray model carries 66 pounds across two trays and a bus tub, so it can run food out and bring dirty dishes back Bear Servi ↗.

It is built for a busy shift. Bear rates the battery for 10 to 12 hours and a charge at about 4 hours, and the robot fits through gaps of 55 to 65 cm depending on the tray setup Bear Servi ↗. Weight sensors detect when a guest or server has taken the plates and send it back to its post automatically, and several robots can share a floor without getting stuck on each other Bear Servi ↗. Bear says setup can take as little as 14 minutes for a 1,000 square foot room with 10 tables, based on its own tests Bear Servi ↗. RobotLAB lists it as NSF certified and offers delivery, on site setup, staff training and service nationwide RobotLAB Servi ↗.

Bear Robotics has scale behind it. LG Electronics took a 51 percent controlling stake in January 2025 and moved its own commercial robot business into Bear LG newsroom ↗. Bear reports more than 93 million restaurant deliveries by its robots as of Q2 2026 Bear Robotics ↗. Florida chain Sergio's put a Servi in each of its six restaurants and its owner told reporters servers earned bigger tips because they had more time with guests Business Insider ↗. Hands on testing is in progress; we will update this guide with results.

Why we like it

  • Lowest purchase and monthly price among major serving robots
  • Runs food and buses dishes in one trip
  • 10 to 12 hour battery covers a full day
  • Auto returns when plates are taken
  • Backed by LG, with a large US install base

Flaws but not dealbreakers

  • Pricing differs between listings, so get a written quote
  • Carries less than larger robots at 66 pounds
  • Cannot handle steps or most patios
  • No ad screen for promotions

Bear Robotics Servi Plus

Best for large dining rooms, banquets and multi table runs.

Servi Plus is Bear's high capacity robot. It carries up to 88 pounds on 2 to 4 trays, which Bear says is more than 16 entrees in one trip, and it can also carry bus tubs and extra large trays Bear Servi Plus ↗. Active suspension keeps plates steady over ADA ramps, mixed flooring and thresholds up to half an inch, and it has speed presets for soup and drinks Bear Servi Plus ↗. Battery life is about 10 to 12 hours Bear Servi Plus ↗.

The tradeoff is size and price. It needs at least 65 cm (25.6 inches) of clear passage, wider than the smallest Servi setup Bear Servi Plus ↗ Bear Servi ↗. RobotLAB lists it at $13,990 to buy or $479 a month on a 36 month plan RobotLAB Servi+ ↗ RobotLAB price list ↗. Over three years, that monthly plan adds up to about $17,240, far more than the purchase price, so buying makes more sense if you have the cash or financing.

Choose it if you run a big floor, a banquet hall or a buffet with long walks from the kitchen. For a typical 60 to 120 seat dining room, the standard Servi's lower cost goes further.

Why we like it

  • Carries up to 88 pounds, about 16 entrees
  • 2 to 4 configurable trays
  • Active suspension for ramps and thresholds
  • Supports elevators and door openers through RobotLAB

Flaws but not dealbreakers

  • Needs a wider aisle, at least 65 cm
  • RaaS costs much more than buying over 3 years
  • About $4,000 more than Servi to buy
Also greatAround $14,500 to buy, or $409/month on a 36 month RaaS plan

Pudu BellaBot

Best for family restaurants that want a robot with personality and four trays.

Pudu's BellaBot is the cat faced robot many diners have already met. It has four trays and a battery that RobotLAB rates for up to 10 to 12 hours, with a 4 to 5 hour charge RobotLAB BellaBot ↗. It uses LIDAR and a depth camera to avoid obstacles RobotLAB BellaBot ↗. Its friendly face and voice are part of the appeal for family and casual spots, and AP found owners using it at a Michigan noodle shop and a Florida sushi restaurant AP ↗.

RobotLAB lists it from $14,500 to buy or $409 a month on a 36 month plan RobotLAB BellaBot ↗ RobotLAB price list ↗. That monthly price is close to the cost of buying over three years, which makes the subscription a reasonable choice if you would rather not tie up cash.

Owner feedback is mixed but useful. The Noodle Topia owner told AP that with three BellaBots, three employees handle what five or six used to, and servers have more time to talk with guests AP ↗. A server at The Sushi Factory said the robot saves trips to the kitchen but can be frustrating, and some customers avoid it AP ↗. It costs more than Servi, and RobotLAB does not list its payload or minimum aisle width, so ask before you sign RobotLAB BellaBot ↗.

Why we like it

  • Four trays
  • Up to 10 to 12 hours per charge
  • Guests enjoy its face and voice
  • RaaS price close to buying over 3 years

Flaws but not dealbreakers

  • About $4,500 more than Servi to buy
  • Payload and aisle width not listed by the reseller
  • Some guests and staff find it distracting

Who this is for

This guide is for owners and managers of full service, casual and fast casual restaurants, plus banquet halls and hotel restaurants, who are short on staff or want servers to spend more time on guests. AP reported that 62 percent of restaurant operators surveyed said they lacked enough staff to meet demand AP ↗.

A serving robot is a food runner and busser, not a server. It cannot take orders, read a table, or handle a complaint AP ↗. It works best in a dining room with a flat floor, aisles at least 55 to 65 cm wide, and a clear path from the kitchen pass Bear Servi ↗ Bear Servi Plus ↗. If your restaurant has steps between sections or a busy outdoor patio, a robot may not be able to reach those tables AP ↗.

Why you should trust us

We have not tested these robots in a restaurant yet. This guide is based on manufacturer spec pages, listed prices from US integrators RobotLAB and others, news reporting on how restaurants actually use these robots, and company announcements RobotLAB Servi ↗ Bear Servi ↗ RobotLAB price list ↗ AP ↗ Business Insider ↗. We checked every price and spec in October 2026 and cite each one.

Hands on testing is in progress; we will update this guide with results. We choose picks on merit. Some makers run referral programs, but that played no part in our picks.

How we picked

We looked at the serving robots that US integrators list with public prices, from Bear Robotics, Pudu and Keenon, and at newer models announced in 2026. We favored robots with published purchase and monthly prices, because quote only pricing makes it hard to plan. We then compared them on the criteria below.

  • Total cost: purchase price and monthly robot as a service price
  • Payload and number of trays
  • Battery life against a full day of service
  • Minimum aisle width
  • Bussing support, such as a bus tub
  • US setup, training and service
  • Evidence of real restaurant use

Buy, finance or rent: what a serving robot really costs

You have three ways to pay. You can buy the robot outright, finance it like other restaurant equipment, or rent it monthly under a robot as a service (RaaS) plan. RobotLAB's delivery robot list shows RaaS prices on 36 month terms, and its FAQ mentions lease terms of 36 to 60 months RobotLAB price list ↗.

The math differs by robot. Using RobotLAB's listed prices, a Servi costs $9,990 to buy or $279 a month, which adds up to about $10,040 over 36 months, almost the same as buying RobotLAB Servi ↗ RobotLAB price list ↗. A BellaBot costs $14,500 to buy or $409 a month, about $14,720 over three years RobotLAB BellaBot ↗ RobotLAB price list ↗. Servi Plus is the outlier: $13,990 to buy versus $479 a month, about $17,240 over three years RobotLAB Servi+ ↗ RobotLAB price list ↗. Prices vary by seller and over time. One Florida owner told reporters he paid about $1,000 a month for his Servi Business Insider ↗.

Before you choose, ask each seller what the monthly price includes. Find out whether repairs, software updates, replacement batteries and on site service are covered, whether you own the robot at the end, and what it costs to cancel early. RobotLAB says it offers delivery, setup, staff training and ongoing service, but it asks you to request a quote for exact terms RobotLAB Servi ↗.

As a rough guide, a Michigan restaurant owner told AP in 2023 that a robot cost him around $15,000, while a person cost $5,000 to $6,000 a month AP ↗. A robot does not replace a server, but if it lets you cover a shift with one fewer food runner, the monthly price can pay for itself.

What a serving robot can and can't do today

Serving robots map your dining room, then drive plates to a table number you tap on the screen. They use lidar and cameras to stop for people and obstacles, and the better ones return to their post on their own when the plates are taken RobotLAB Servi ↗ Bear Servi ↗ RobotLAB BellaBot ↗. Fleets of several robots can share a floor and plan around each other Bear Servi ↗ Bear Servi Plus ↗. Larger models like Servi Plus and Keenon's T10 support elevators and doors through integrators, for multi floor venues RobotLAB Servi+ ↗ RobotLAB T10 ↗.

What they cannot do matters as much. They cannot take orders or hand plates to guests themselves; a server or the guest still lifts the food off AP ↗. Steps, outdoor patios and tightly packed rooms are hard for them AP ↗. Chili's tested a robot called Rita in 61 US restaurants and halted it because it moved too slowly and got in servers' way, and 58 percent of guests surveyed said it did not improve their visit AP ↗.

Before you sign

Ask for an on site demo in your own dining room during a real service. Measure your narrowest aisle and compare it with each robot's minimum passage width Bear Servi ↗ Bear Servi Plus ↗ Keenon T10 ↗. Plan where it will charge and wait between runs.

Train staff before launch. AP found servers who found the robots frustrating and guests who avoided them AP ↗. Owners who report success use the robot to carry food out and dishes back while servers stay at the table AP ↗ Business Insider ↗.

  • Get a written, itemized quote that lists hardware, setup, training, warranty and support
  • Compare buy, finance and RaaS totals over 36 months
  • Ask what happens if the robot breaks during a Friday dinner rush
  • Check aisle widths, thresholds and ramps
  • Start with one robot before buying a fleet

What to look forward to

Robots are getting smaller. Bear Robotics announced Servi Q in May 2026, its most compact Servi, which fits through gaps as narrow as 18 inches Bear Servi Q ↗. Bear had not published its price or full specs when we checked Bear Servi Q ↗. That could open serving robots to tight cafes and small bistros.

Makers are also adding screens for menus and promotions, as on Keenon's T10 with its 23.8 inch display, and multi robot fleet controls Keenon T10 ↗. We will add new models to this guide as they reach US integrators with published prices.

The competition

Keenon DINERBOT T10Around $18,400 to buy, or $519/month RaaS

A capable robot with an 88 pound load, a 23.8 inch ad screen and AI tray detection Keenon T10 ↗. RobotLAB lists it at $18,400 or $519 a month, nearly double the Servi, but its own product page also quotes $13,500 in the FAQ, so pricing is unclear RobotLAB price list ↗ RobotLAB T10 ↗.

Pudu KettyBot ProAround $14,000 to buy

A slimmer Pudu with three shelves, a 9 hour battery and an 18.5 inch screen for promotions RobotLAB KettyBot Pro ↗. At $14,000 it costs more than Servi, and RobotLAB lists two different monthly prices for it RobotLAB KettyBot Pro ↗.

Pudu BellaBot ProFrom $16,000 to buy, or $399/month RaaS (36 months) at RobotLAB

The newer BellaBot adds advertising features. RobotLAB lists it from $16,000 or $399 a month, but the reseller pages we checked did not publish full specs RobotLAB price list ↗.

Keenon DINERBOT T8Quote only
