What independent tests say

The most useful independent comparison we found is from CHOICE, the Australian consumer group, which lab tests robot vacuums. Its December 2025 article put Roborock on top overall, while saying a well priced Ecovacs on sale can also be a smart buy CHOICE tests ↗.

In its matchup of the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni and the Roborock Saros 10, CHOICE rated Roborock excellent on hard floors and Ecovacs very good, and said Roborock models consistently pick up more sand. Both were rated poor on carpet, with no model from either brand scoring over 50 percent there. Mopping from both was rated OK, and results varied widely CHOICE tests ↗.

CHOICE also found that some cheaper models from each brand outscored pricier ones, and that both brands launch and retire models quickly CHOICE tests ↗. The models it tested are older than the ones below, so treat its results as a brand level signal rather than a verdict on any current model.

High end: Saros 10R vs DEEBOT X12S Pro Omni

The Roborock Saros 10R sells for $899.99 on Roborock's US store, down from a listed $1,599.99 Saros 10R page ↗. It uses dual spinning mops that detach automatically on carpet, a dock that washes mops with 80°C water and dries them with hot air, a 3D ToF system plus an RGB camera for obstacle avoidance, and a chassis that climbs thresholds up to 4 cm. It is 3.14 inches tall, which helps it fit under low furniture, and comes with a one year limited warranty Saros 10R page ↗.

The Ecovacs DEEBOT X12S Pro Omni sells for $1,299.99 X12S Pro Omni page ↗. It uses a 27 cm roller mop that Ecovacs says washes itself as it cleans, a dock that washes with water up to 100°C and includes Air-Path Auto Drying, AIVI 3D 4.0 obstacle avoidance and an extended roller for edges and corners. On carpet, the roller lifts 15 mm. It crosses single steps up to 2.5 cm and is 98 mm tall X12S Pro Omni page ↗. Ecovacs rates suction as 53AW rather than in Pa, so it cannot be compared directly with Roborock's numbers X12S Pro Omni page ↗.

On current US prices, the Roborock costs $400 less and climbs higher thresholds. The Ecovacs roller mop is the reason to pay more if mopping is your main job.

Midrange: Qrevo 2 Pro vs DEEBOT T90 Max Plus Omni

At $549.99 each, these two are priced head to head Qrevo 2 Pro page ↗ T90 Max Plus Omni page ↗. The Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro has a 20,000 Pa motor, dual spinning mops that detach on carpet, a FlexiArm mop that reaches along walls, a self sealing dust bag and structured light obstacle sensors. Roborock's page does not state a wash temperature, hot air drying or threshold height Qrevo 2 Pro page ↗.

The Ecovacs DEEBOT T90 Max Plus Omni lists up to 40,000 Pa suction, an OZMO roller mop, a dock that empties debris, washes the mop with 212°F water and dries it with 113°F air, LiDAR navigation with obstacle detection down to 2 cm, and 20 mm threshold climbing. It is 95 mm tall T90 Max Plus Omni page ↗.

On paper, the Ecovacs offers more at this price. Spec sheets are not cleaning results, though, and CHOICE's tests suggest Roborock tends to do better on hard floor pickup CHOICE tests ↗.

How to choose for your home

Start with your floors. If you have many rugs and door thresholds, look at climbing height and mop lifting first: the Saros 10R lists 4 cm climbing Saros 10R page ↗, and the X12S lifts its roller 15 mm on carpet X12S Pro Omni page ↗. If you have mostly hard floors and mop often, a hot water washing dock and drying help prevent smelly mops: the Saros 10R lists hot water washing and hot air drying Saros 10R page ↗, and the X12S lists hot water washing and Air-Path Auto Drying X12S Pro Omni page ↗.

Next, measure under your furniture. Robot height decides whether it can clean under a sofa or bed; the Saros 10R is 3.14 inches tall, the T90 95 mm and the X12S 98 mm Saros 10R page ↗ T90 Max Plus Omni page ↗ X12S Pro Omni page ↗.

Finally, watch prices. Both brands run frequent sales on their own stores, and Roborock listed the Saros 10R and Qrevo 2 Pro well below their regular prices on October 9, 2026 Roborock store ↗. Ecovacs listed bundles with accessories at small discounts Ecovacs store ↗. Buy during a sale and check the warranty terms before checkout.

Plan for upkeep as well. Docks that wash mops need clean water refills and dirty water emptying unless you buy a plumbed version, and dust bags, filters, brushes and mop pads all need replacing over time. Price a year of those parts from the maker's store before you choose, since running costs add up over the life of the robot.

  • Mostly hard floors, best pickup: Roborock
  • Mopping is the priority: Ecovacs roller mop
  • Thresholds and thick rugs: Roborock Saros 10R
  • Best spec sheet around $550: Ecovacs T90 Max Plus Omni
