OUR VERDICT

Roborock makes robot vacuums and mops from about $140 entry models to flagship docks with robotic arms. Its higher end models lead several independent lab tests, especially on hard floors, and our top robot vacuum pick is a Roborock. It is a strong brand to shortlist, as long as you buy during one of its frequent sales and accept a 1 year warranty.

What Roborock is

Roborock is a robot vacuum maker that sells budget, mid range and flagship models through its own US store and major retailers. Its US store listed 24 robot vacuums when we checked, from the Q7 L5 at $139.99 to the Saros 20 at $1,479.99, along with certified refurbished models Roborock store ↗.

The range splits into a few families. The Q series covers budget robots, such as the Q7 L5 with 8,000 Pa of suction and the Q7 M5+ with 10,000 Pa and LiDAR navigation Roborock store ↗. The Qrevo line adds all in one docks that wash mops, and the Saros line holds the slim flagships, including the Saros Z70 with a mechanical arm Roborock store ↗.

Top models share a few features: StarSight 2.0 navigation, dual anti tangle brushes, mops that lift or detach on carpet, and an AdaptiLift chassis that raises the robot over thresholds Roborock store ↗.

What it does well

Hard floors are its strength. Australia's CHOICE has rated nine Roborock models and says Roborock comes out on top against Ecovacs overall, mainly for hard floors and pet hair CHOICE ↗. Roborock models consistently picked up more sand on hard floors in its tests CHOICE ↗.

Its best models lead independent tests. Our top pick, the Qrevo Edge 3 Pro, picked up 93 percent of sand embedded in carpet against an average of about 78 percent in Vacuum Wars' lab, and crossed a 57 mm threshold, a record for that lab Vacuum Wars ↗. RTINGS calls the Saros 10R the best robot vacuum it has tested, citing obstacle avoidance and its low profile RTINGS ↗.

It climbs well. Roborock says the Qrevo Edge 3 Pro climbs double level thresholds up to 3.46 inches and recognizes more than 300 kinds of obstacles Qrevo Edge 3 Pro ↗.

Sales are frequent and deep. When we checked, the Saros 10R was $899.99, down from $1,599.99, and the Saros Z70 was $999.99, down from $2,599.99 Roborock store ↗. Roborock also offers free delivery, 30 day free returns and 30 day price protection Roborock store ↗.

CHOICE's expert also preferred Roborock's app, calling it clear and intuitive CHOICE ↗. Hands on testing on our side is in progress.

Where it falls short

Carpet is a weak spot in some tests. CHOICE found robot vacuums from both Roborock and Ecovacs struggled on carpet, with none scoring over 50 percent, and rated the Saros 10 poor on carpet and borderline on pet hair CHOICE ↗. Results vary by model, so check the model you plan to buy.

Mopping is inconsistent. CHOICE says some Roborock models mopped dismally while others did very well, and some cheaper models beat pricier ones CHOICE ↗.

The warranty is short. Roborock's store lists a 1 year warranty on new devices Roborock store ↗. Dreame lists 3 years on its D10 Plus Gen 2 Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 ↗.

Suction ratings can mislead. Vacuum Wars measured the Qrevo Edge 3 Pro's bench suction at about one third below average despite its 36,000 Pa rating Vacuum Wars ↗. The lineup also changes quickly, and the store shows several near duplicate listings, which makes comparing models harder Roborock store ↗.
