Google Calendar's appointment schedules give you a free booking page inside the calendar you may already use. It is a fine start if you just need clients to pick a slot, but the free version is limited to one booking page, and paid bookings, multiple booking pages, verified bookings and automated reminders need a paid Google Workspace plan. There is no AI planning at all.
What Google Calendar appointment schedules are
Appointment schedules are a feature inside Google Calendar. You set when you are available, and Google creates a booking page that clients can use to pick a time Google Calendar help ↗. The appointment then lands on your calendar.
You set it up on a computer. In Google Calendar you click Create, choose Appointment schedule, then set the title, length, availability, scheduling window, buffer time, daily maximum and which calendars to check Google Calendar help ↗. On the next screen you pick a location or video option such as Google Meet, in person or phone, add a description and booking form questions, and set confirmations and reminders Google Calendar help ↗.
It is a booking page, not an AI assistant. It will not plan your day or move tasks around. Hands on testing is in progress, and we will update this review with our results.
What it does well
It is free to start. A personal Google account gets one shareable booking page for one appointment type, with buffer time, start and end dates, a daily booking cap and custom questions Workspace scheduling ↗.
There is nothing new to learn. Bookings go straight into Google Calendar, and Google Meet links can be added automatically Google Calendar help ↗.
Settings cover the basics well. You can add buffer time between meetings, cap bookings per day, set guest permissions and add co hosts Google Calendar help ↗. By default clients must book at least 4 hours ahead, which protects you from last minute surprises Google Calendar help ↗.
Paid plans add useful extras. With an eligible Workspace plan you can create multiple booking pages, collect payment through Stripe at the time of booking, send automated reminders, check conflicts across several calendars and ask guests to verify their email to block spam bookings Workspace scheduling ↗. You can send up to 5 reminders per booking Google Calendar help ↗.
Workspace can do the setup for you. For eligible Workspace accounts, Calendar automatically creates a booking page from your weekday availability Google Calendar help ↗.
Where it falls short
The free version is very basic. It is limited to one booking page and one appointment type Workspace scheduling ↗. A business with several services will hit that limit right away.
Payments are not free. Collecting payment through Stripe is listed as a premium feature Workspace scheduling ↗, and you must connect a Stripe account first Google Calendar help ↗.
The entry Workspace plan does not help. Appointment booking pages are not supported on Business Starter. They come with Business Standard and Business Plus Workspace pricing ↗.
Some limits are fixed. You cannot edit the reminder email text, cannot book resource calendars, and co hosts cannot be outside your domain Google Calendar help ↗. Co host availability is not checked by default, so double bookings are possible unless you add their calendars Google Calendar help ↗.
You cannot create appointment schedules in the Calendar app on iPhone, iPad or Android. You need a computer Google Calendar help ↗.
There is no AI. Unlike tools such as Reclaim or Motion, it does not schedule focus time or tasks around your meetings.
