OUR VERDICT

ChatGPT Go is OpenAI's $8 a month plan that sits between the free tier and Plus. It is worth it for light users who keep hitting free limits and do not mind ads. If you rely on ChatGPT for work every day, the ad free Plus plan at $20 is the better buy.

What ChatGPT Go is

ChatGPT Go is a paid ChatGPT plan for individuals. OpenAI describes it as expanded access compared with the free plan: more messages with tools, more uploads, more image creation, more voice chats and longer memory ChatGPT pricing ↗. It costs $8 a month in the US AI Business Weekly ↗.

It runs the same everyday models as the free plan, GPT-6 Luna and GPT-5 Thinking Mini, plus limited access to GPT-5.6 Terra on desktop ChatGPT pricing ↗. The more advanced reasoning models, such as GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6 Sol, are reserved for Plus and above ChatGPT pricing ↗.

Go is a monthly plan billed per user ChatGPT pricing ↗. It is aimed at people who use ChatGPT a few times a day for writing, summarizing and quick research, and who want fewer interruptions from usage limits.

What it does well

It removes the most common free plan frustrations for little money. OpenAI lists more messages, uploads, image creation and voice chats than Free ChatGPT pricing ↗. For an owner who drafts emails, cleans up a menu or summarizes a PDF most days, that covers most of what matters.

The context window is generous. On Go, OpenAI lists about 54K tokens for its fast Instant model, or about 40 pages of input, and 256K tokens for reasoning, about 320 pages ChatGPT pricing ↗. Those are the same figures OpenAI lists for Plus ChatGPT pricing ↗. The free plan gets about 27K tokens on Instant, or about 12 pages ChatGPT pricing ↗.

It includes useful organizing tools. Go has memory, including memory of past chats, plus projects and scheduled tasks ChatGPT pricing ↗. Scheduled tasks are not available on the free plan ChatGPT pricing ↗. Go also includes voice with video, data analysis, vision and image generation ChatGPT pricing ↗.

The price is low. At $8 a month, Go is $12 less than Plus AI Business Weekly ↗. For someone who only needs a bit more than Free, that saving adds up to $144 a year.

Where it falls short

It may show ads. OpenAI's pricing page says the plan may include ads ChatGPT pricing ↗. An October 2026 roundup confirms that ads appear on Free and Go, and that Plus is the cheapest ad free plan AI Business Weekly ↗.

The extras are limited. Deep research and Codex are available only in limited form on Go ChatGPT pricing ↗. ChatGPT Work runs only in the desktop app, while Plus adds web and mobile ChatGPT pricing ↗. Image generation does not work with Thinking on Go ChatGPT pricing ↗.

Some features are missing entirely. Go does not include Sites, interactive tables and charts, Developer mode, record mode or apps that connect to internal tools ChatGPT pricing ↗. Response times are listed as fast only on Plus and above ChatGPT pricing ↗.

OpenAI does not publish exact message limits for Go ChatGPT pricing ↗ AI Business Weekly ↗. If you find yourself hitting limits every week, you may end up upgrading anyway. Hands on testing is in progress; we will update this review with results.
