OUR VERDICT

Harvey is an enterprise legal AI platform used by more than 3,000 law firms and in house legal teams, including over 80 AmLaw 100 firms. It is built for large and mid sized firms and corporate legal departments that handle high stakes work and need strong security controls. Prices are not published and access starts with a demo, so most solos and small firms will get more value from tools with clear pricing.

What Harvey is

Hands on testing is in progress, and we will update this review with our results.

What it does well

It handles large document sets. Vault can store and organize up to 100,000 files per vault, including files and email correspondence Harvey Vault ↗. Review tables pull and compare key data points from thousands of documents at once, and you can ask questions over the table to summarize or compare Harvey Vault ↗.

It connects to where documents already live. Vault can sync from document management systems such as iManage, SharePoint and Google Drive Harvey Vault ↗.

Security is enterprise grade. Harvey lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and ISO 42001, along with SAML single sign on, audit logs, IP allow listing and data lifecycle management Harvey ↗. It also references GDPR and CCPA compliance Harvey ↗.

It is proven at the top of the market. More than 80 AmLaw 100 firms use it, according to Harvey Harvey ↗. Harvey reports an average of more than 25 hours saved per month Harvey ↗, though that is the company's own figure.

Collaboration with clients is built in. Spaces let a firm work with clients and co counsel in shared workspaces while keeping ethical walls in place Harvey ↗.

The company is well funded. Harvey announced it raised $550 million at a $15.5 billion valuation Harvey ↗, which suggests it will keep investing in the product.

Where it falls short

There is no public price. Neither the home page nor the pricing page lists plans, seat minimums or a trial. Both point you to a demo request Harvey ↗ Harvey pricing ↗.

It is not aimed at solos. Harvey's customer list is made up of large firms and corporations Harvey ↗, and smaller firms will likely find better value in tools with published prices.

Results still need checking. Every legal AI tool can produce errors. A Stanford study found that even research tools built on legal databases gave wrong information in a meaningful share of queries Stanford HAI study ↗, so lawyers must verify citations and conclusions themselves.

Outcome claims come from the vendor. The hours saved figure is Harvey's own Harvey ↗, and we found no independent measure of it.

Pricing and plans

Harvey does not publish prices. Its pricing page offers only a Request a Demo link Harvey pricing ↗, and the home page does the same Harvey ↗.

No free plan or self serve trial is listed Harvey ↗ Harvey pricing ↗. Expect a sales process and an enterprise contract.

For comparison, Paxton AI publishes its price at $499 per user a month or $2,999 a year with a 7 day free trial Paxton pricing ↗, and MyCase Pro, which includes an AI writing assistant, is $100 per user a month billed yearly MyCase pricing ↗.

Who should (and shouldn't) use it

  • Good fit: large and mid sized law firms that review thousands of documents per matter.
  • Good fit: corporate legal departments that need strict security controls and client collaboration spaces.
  • Good fit: firms that already use iManage, SharePoint or Google Drive and want AI over those files.
  • Skip it if: you are a solo or small firm that wants a published price and a quick start.
  • Skip it if: you mainly need case law research with citations from a legal database. CoCounsel Legal fits better.
