The Winbot W3 Omni is Ecovacs' top window cleaning robot, and its station washes and drains the dirty cleaning pads for you. It is worth the roughly $700 list price for homes with lots of large glass, floor to ceiling windows or hard to reach panes. If you only have a few ordinary windows, the cheaper W2 Pro Omni does the core job for less.
What the Ecovacs Winbot W3 Omni is
The Winbot W3 Omni is a robot that holds itself to a window with suction, sprays cleaning solution and wipes the glass in planned rows Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗. It comes with a station that carries the robot, powers it through a combined power and safety cable, and washes its wiping pad after a job Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗.
The station is the main upgrade over earlier Winbots. Self washing pads started with the W3 Omni Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗ Ecovacs W2 Pro Omni ↗. Hands on testing is in progress. This review is based on Ecovacs' product page and an independent review by Cybershack.
What it does well
It cleans its own pads. The Vortex Wash station uses 16 high pressure nozzles, four scrubbing discs and a scraper to wash the pad in about a minute, then drains the dirty water into a waste tank Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗. With most window robots you rinse pads by hand between panes.
It gets close to the frame. A TruEdge scrubber spins up to 200 RPM, lowers when the robot reaches a frame and retracts afterward Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗. Cybershack found edge and corner coverage precise, with almost no gaps, and said it avoided handles on glass doors well Cybershack review ↗.
It runs a long time. Ecovacs rates it for up to 130 minutes per charge, and it can also run plugged in Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗. In Fast mode it takes about 1 minute 35 seconds per square meter Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗. Cybershack says it can clean windows up to 8 m wide and 2.5 m tall in one run Cybershack review ↗. It navigates with WIN-SLAM 5.0 and offers eight cleaning modes in the Ecovacs Home app Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗.
Safety is layered. Ecovacs lists a 12 stage protection system, a main safety rope rated to 100 kg plus a backup rope, a 10 kg station that grips the floor with over 800 N of suction, and more than 30 minutes of hold if the battery runs low Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗. It also includes accidental damage insurance for damage caused by loss of suction Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗.
Cybershack rated it 4.5 out of 5 and said it cleans better and faster than by hand on windows, sliding doors, mirrors, balcony glass and shower glass Cybershack review ↗. Setup took about ten minutes Cybershack review ↗.
Where it falls short
It is expensive for a one job robot, which was Cybershack's first complaint Cybershack review ↗.
It is not perfect. Cybershack found it leaves a faint outline where the pad sat, which needs a manual wipe, and it can get caught on obstacles such as roller blinds Cybershack review ↗. Heavily soiled glass may need more than one pass, and soapy shower glass once let it slide further than intended Cybershack review ↗.
It is loud and needs supervision. Cybershack compared the noise to a vacuum on high suction and said you should not leave it unattended Cybershack review ↗.
Glass must suit it. It needs glass at least 3 mm thick Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗, and Cybershack warns that curved, irregular or cracked glass can be a safety risk Cybershack review ↗. The whole package weighs about 12 kg, so carrying it room to room takes effort Ecovacs W3 Omni ↗.
